Abstract

Chapter 1 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 4), "Applying Quantitative Methods to E-book Collections"

Collection development activities that involve electronic content require knowledge of local information needs and skills related to quantitative research. The ability to conduct cost analysis, identify usage trends, and document how funds are allocated to acquire materials are essential skills in the digital age. However, training opportunities in this area of library work are not always available. As the e-book landscape evolves, sharing analysis methods within the professional community encourages ongoing experimentation and collaboration. Chapter 1 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 4), “Applying Quantitative Methods to E-book Collections,” looks at these questions.
