Chapter 2 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 6), “Open Source Library Systems: The Current State of the Art,” discusses the most widely implemented open source integrated library system in the world—Koha. Koha has features that are comparable with almost any commercial competitor, is able meet the demands of mid-sized libraries, and finds use in larger libraries and consortia. While touching on the international perspective, this chapter will primarily focus on the impact of Koha for libraries in the United States.
