Abstract

Chapter 2 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 54, no. 2), “How to Stay on Top of Emerging Technology Trends for Libraries”

In chapter 2 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 54, no. 2), “How to Stay on Top of Emerging Technology Trends for Libraries,” we explore the concept of trend watching and different types of trend watchers. We look at trend watchers in the library and the non-library technology industries. We look at some tools and techniques for following trend watchers. Finally, I discuss how important it is to pay attention to trends in your local community, and I share some ideas for how to do that.

David Lee King

David Lee King is the Digital Services Director at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, where he plans, implements, and experiments with emerging technology trends. He speaks internationally about emerging trends, website management, digital experience, and social media and has been published in many library-related journals.
