Chapter 4 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 54, no. 2), “How to Stay on Top of Emerging Technology Trends for Libraries,” focuses on strategies to prepare yourself and your library for emerging technology trends. We explore ways to prepare for rapid technology change; fads, trends, and tipping points; and knowing when to pursue (and not to pursue) an upgrade.

David Lee King

David Lee King is the Digital Services Director at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, where he plans, implements, and experiments with emerging technology trends. He speaks internationally about emerging trends, website management, digital experience, and social media and has been published in many library-related journals. King is a Library Journal Mover and Shaker. His newest book is Face2Face: Using Facebook, Twitter, and Other Social Media Tools to Create Great Customer Connections.
