In chapter 1 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 54, no. 7), “Why Make Video?” David Lee King tackles this question and shares why your library or institution should explore creating videos. This chapter focuses on reasons why libraries should make videos, looks at statistics of how consumers are using video, explores the business case for making videos, shares statistics for video in social media networks, and discusses how video can be incorporated with learning.

David Lee King

David Lee King is the Digital Services Director at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, where he plans, implements, and experiments with emerging technology trends. He speaks internationally about emerging trends, website management, digital experience, and social media and has been published in many library-related journals. King is a Library Journal Mover and Shaker. His most recent book is Face2Face: Using Facebook, Twitter, and Other Social Media Tools to Create Great Customer Connections.
